Sourav is a Managing Director at Dolby Family Ventures, which he joined in 2022. He leads the life sciences practice, which is focused on investing in early-stage companies across precision neuroscience and platform technologies. Sourav is currently on the boards of several companies, including MindImmune Therapeutics, Libra Therapeutics, Montara Therapeutics, Motif Neurotech, Progentos Therapeutics, and Vandria.
Prior to Dolby Family Ventures, Sourav was at Verily, an Alphabet company that raised $3.5B+ in external capital, as the business lead for programs and partnerships for a wide-range of next-generation technologies at the convergence of life sciences, data science and AI. This includes programs with Allergan, the Broad Institute, Gilead, Procter & Gamble, Verb Surgical (acquired by Johnson & Johnson) and Verily’s efforts towards the opioid epidemic and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to Verily, Sourav was at Varian (previously, NYSE: VAR), where he enabled the growth and strategic transformation of the company via large scale M&A, co-founded a venture capital arm, grew the China business while working in China, and led the rollup of interventional oncology assets to create a new business unit. Varian was acquired by Siemens Healthineers for $16.4B.
Prior to Varian, Sourav advised, built, and invested in several healthcare and technology companies. Successful exits include Arterys (acquired by Tempus for undisclosed amount), Fusion Pharma (previously, NASDAQ: FUSN; then acquired by AstraZeneca for $2.4B), Grail (acquired by Illumina for $10.1B; now NASDAQ: GRAL), Health Catalyst (NASDAQ: HCAT), Instructure (NYSE: INST), Lineagen (acquired by Bionano Genomics for undisclosed amount), Lyft (NASDAQ: LYFT), and Zebra Medical (acquired by Nanox for $200m).
Sourav has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah, where he was a Lassonde Scholar. His doctoral research focused on developing imaging-based biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases, specifically Alzheimer’s Disease. Sourav has BS in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Electrical Engineering from Penn State.
